ROUNDTABLE MEETING (RTM)

FOR ASEAN EDUCATIONAL LEADERS

RTM V in Bandar Sri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

RTM V was hosted by Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam, and attended by 250 representatives from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Awg Ibrahim bin Haji Abd Rahman, Department of Schools, Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam. From the series of intellectual discourse, school visits and quality exchanges of idea and arrangements for school networking during these few days, Mr Cheong Huat Joo looks forward to be able to compile some solid and meaningful resolution to be casted in “The Brunei Declaration 2011” for South East Asia School Principals Forum (SEASPF), which can be seen in Annex 3.

The highlight results of the RTM V are:

1. To strengthen the role of the Focal Point for effective communication among member countries;

2. To carry out Action Research programs with similar points of focus and sharing findings with members of SEASPF as well as take into consideration the recommendations made by others thus encouraging mutual consultancy by member countries;

3. To contribute articles and journals through the SEASPF website;

4. To encourage the sustainability and growth of SEASPF by being open to new members and covering a broader range of topics which contribute towards improved quality of education;

5. To continue to remain relevant by embracing technological advances in the 21st century and incorporate in to the country’s education.
